... times, if I find something I like and even get round to trying it on, if the saleswoman pops her head round the curtain and says how jolly marvellous it looks I will put it down and walk out, even if I liked it. Something inside just grates and I am outta there.

At the carpet co-operative, however, the door was firmly shut behind us.
Our guide for the tour was a rotund Belge, who spoke excellent English and who had tried to make his spiel entertaining as well ...

... in front of it, the woman who owns it, and does a lot of the wonderful cooking came running out the door yelling at me, holding a styrofone plate. As she reached me,....she gave me the plate filled with chocolate crepes,.....for my bus ride. Can you believe it?!?!
i had ordered the crepes twice before, and told her that they were bless ...

... they look as though they were painted yesterday. You wind up a very worn narrow stairway and find the church created in a ‘cross’ plan with domes including one of a youngish Jesus, paintings on the side walls include the last supper, baby Jesus in the manger, the crucifixion and the betrayal by Judas. The faces in the paintings are so clear and have expressions that you can clearly see. I thought it was so beautiful and so moving to think it was all done ...

Back on the bus for a one hour trip to the city of Kayseri where we checked into the Nuzhet Otel for a quick shower and change of clothes.
