... other beaches and fitness parks, bike and running paths. We followed the coast (Atlantic) around Signal Hill (they still fire a cannon from this hill at 12 sharp each noon) and made our way to the base of Table Mountain, got our tickets and up we went. We had an hour to explore the top and look out towards the ocean, down at Cape Town or into the Cape provinces and mountains. Stunning. Then down we went, onto the ...

Today is World AIDS Day. Since I did Dance Marathon last year at BW (some of you pledged money and donated to pediatric AIDS so that I was able to dance for 12 hours so thank you!) I felt very passionate in being able to be in South Africa for World AIDS Day. I wasn't as involved as I would have like to be but it was still incredible to be here.

I don't know if I'll ever be privileged enough to do it again but what a first experience! Great weekend all ...

Today is workers day a holiday in South Africa to represent the working class. Workers day is equivalent to our labor day except workers day started because of the labor strike for shorter work days that got out of hand in Chicago. Strange that it's a holiday for them yet we don’t recognize the event that happened in our own back yard. Since it was workers day all museums and government buildings were closed so we had a tour through a township. Now townships ...

TIA - "This is Africa"... the line of the day from our tour guide, Mike, as we visited the Langa Township today. The city of Cape Town and many other countries were shut down today in honor of Worker's Day. Which is a national holiday here and most businesses, the university and tourist attractions are closed in observance.
SHAWCO arranged for us to spend the day in Lango, South Africa's oldest black township that dates back ...
