    ... through the city to her hotel and as soon as I saw her, I dropped my bags and gave her the biggest hug and started crying, which is kind of unusual for me. I've been away from my family for long periods of time before (and often), but I'm in such a foreign place right now and nothing has really been easy for me lately, and I just had so much built up emotions that I had to let go.

    ... for the crazy horse race through the main square. We had pizza in a restaurant overlooking the square, where 40000 people cram in twice a year to see a horse race that lasts 3 laps, or 95 seconds. We got back to the hotel before 10pm.

    ... a 15 mile bike ride yesterday, our legs were screaming!!!! Next was the climb to the top of the duomo...467 steps up...we were a little worn out after this one, but the baptistery was next so that was a nice break. It was a quiet stop with chairs to sit and take in the surrounding display of catholic ritual.
