    ... or the loggerhead. Once the eggs hatch the young turtles are left to fend for themselves but 48hrs after hatching the project team go and excavate the nest after 48hrs to check how many eggs have hatched and see if there are any stragglers! We watched as they opened up the nest, 75 eggs had hatched a few failed and they did rescue a straggler. The stragglers are normally kept for a few days as they are usually weak and once they are strong enough the team take them back to the beach ...

    ... traffic sat around in the midday heat. Not very pleasant at all. Fortunately for us, the delays and diversions were for traffic entering Girne, as we were heading home it was not so bad. Travelled home via the veg stall for a few items, then to the village shop in Catalkoy....and even in the village we had to take a circuitous route home as they were digging up the narrow roads as well. Home and we decided that it was to hot to go up to the pool so relaxed with cups ...

    ... we were shown into the baths.....the decoration and ambience was perfect. In the centre of the main room was a large marble slab which was heated along with various taps, bowls etc around the edge of the room. Leading off the main room were a few smaller rooms to sit in. The idea firstly is to wash yourself off with warm water and get your body sweating...we duly splashed water over us and washed ourselves down. Then we were left to "heat" up and spent time lying around on ...

    The trip from Malta to Cyprus took just over two hours. We made it through customs fairly easily and were met at the airport by my brother in law Geoff, his wife Amanda and daughter Charlotte. It is so nice to see these lovely people again. They drove us around Larnaka and we stopped by the water front for a walk and some dinner.

    ... As we watched the chops slowly cooking our turkish neighbours again sent some food over.....lovely dish of pasta with chicken and mushrooms....again very tasty. Sarah is making some cakes next week so will do a double batch and send across. They are so generous. For us tonights supper was bbq pork chop, hellim, salad and selection of dips all washed down with a rum and coke for John and Efes for Sarah. As we had a few bananas left over we popped them on ...
