      Disappointed to find the Church closed.

      The day that I arrived in Kakopetria I noticed a very small church by the entrance of the village. I was na´ve to think I would find it open. Later on I was told that if I really wished to get inside I had to contact the person who is responsible for the keys. This is done for safety reasons ...

      ... some stones collapsed and killed the newlywed couple and thus the village’s name was born.

      The stone can still be seen in the entrance of the Old Village, and couples from Kakopetria who get married go to the stone and make a wish for the love to be as strong as the stone.

      ... over their shoulders, others clenching them ready for a fight. Our driver got out with our passports and held his hand up to us which meant to stay seated.       ... wife isn't all it's cracked up to and he has passed on his expertise to a new young waiter for us whose name is Bakir (I think). First night on arrival we met up with Hassan (the owner) and it wasn't too long before he and David were swapping surgery stories although not quite comparing scars. Now three days in and the mid 30s temperature is getting to us and not sleeping well and missing our memory form mattress and pillow - still no doubt the spine will adjust in due course. ...
