Vibey Melting pot

We arrived late into KL. As we were flying in using Air Asia we landed at the Low Cost Terminal which is a good hour by Bus from the centre of KL. The Bus arrived and the first impression we got was that we were in India. This is because the Bus arrives right into the heart of the area known Little India. Our cab driver was Indian and we drove through the streets which were definitely a lot more dirty that those in Singapore. Our Hotel was nice and about 4 stops on the mono-rail away from all...

Whiskey galore! KL style

Thankfully the ridiculously expensive airport "food hall" at Siem Reap got us back to the price reality we'd have to get used to now that we've arrived in Kuala Lumpur. The rest of our trip is going to be lamentably more western and expensive - and as if to celebrate this fact we ate like kings in KFC (our first western chain restaurant since, well, for ever) as soon as we arrived in Kuala Lumpur. We felt very guilty about it but pretty soon after we were feeling a lot more than guilty, and l...

We were in Mechelen, missed the first train, were VERY relieved to have my passports and we did calculate to be there 3 hours up front, so now it is still 2. Although we took first class on the train, we cannot sit next to each other, which I needed after the excitement of this morning. NONE of the single blokes (yes, almost exclusively men) suggest to change places. I do not understand! Sure, it is nice to have 2 seats for you but whether the second seat is taken by X or Y does not matter. I...

Guided tour of KL

I went down to the front desk this morning to see if we could change into a cheaper, non-executive class room since we didn't want to be paying out the butt hole for another night. But they only had the executive room available tonight as well so we gathered our things together and headed out the door. We were still on the hotel grounds when a man came over to offer us his tour guide/taxi services. We said what we needed more than anything right now was a decent hotel. He hooked us up! He too...

Never stay in this hotel!!!!!!!

from travelsmartMelbourne
I will never stay in this hotel again.

my trip to KL was on business. Preferred this hotel as it talks about providing internet access in rooms, breakfast complimentary etc.

The staff his highly unprofessional, do not know how to behave with customers.

After i checked in with lot of difficulty later i came to know that the hotel is located in area Jalan Tion Nam near Jalan Raja Laut which is popular for red light area. You can even see pros near the hotel waiting and making signs.

The wireless internet in your room is worst...it never works...there is no network..you simply get a wireless sign but you will never be able to open any page.

When you call for room service the same people from reception area take your calls and take long to serve. you have to call them 3-4 times to ensure that you get your food to your room.

Talking about breakfast..which is pathetic...the bread i wanted to have were old with fungii on the bread and with bad smell in it.

There were no taxi service available at the hotel..there were no taxi or bus or train service available near hotel..you have to walk a long distance to take a bus, taxi or train.

My suggestion is AVOID THIS HOTEL if you are looking for a decent hotel to stay completely AVOID this hotel..

Except for good rooms which are only on 9th and 10th floors, there is nothing better they can offer. At least i will not stay in this hotel again which is located in a red light area.

I immediately changed the hotel the next day as i had to stay for one week in KL.

My suggestion is take some good hotel near KLCC area or Bangsar area but never stay in this hotel.

Have a great stay at KL!

A bit disappointing

from RolexBoy
Decided to stay here for our last night in KL just to check it out.

The facade of the hotel needs to be repainted. The interior is very modern and clean though.

Check-in was slow and there was even a queue. One tourist had so much trouble with his booking and the attitude of the staff was not very good. But in the end, he got his room and we got ours.

The room is very clean and has a great view of KLCC. However, it faces the main road and can get noisy at night. Try to get rooms that face the other side even if you can't see KLCC. The toilet is clean but the water pressure from the shower is terrible. The water pressure is so low that it's just basically a SINGLE stream of water coming out of the shower head. It gets worse during the morning peak hours when everyone is using the toilets.

There is free Wi-fi and a internet lounge on Level 10 for those without laptops.

Breakfast buffet is ok. The standard fare of eggs, porriage, bread, etc.

The nearest monorail station is quite a walk. Walking among heavy traffic and old shops makes it look even further.

For RM$159 a night, it's cheap but I still prefer YMCA anytime for a budget stay.

Good value in KL, dodgy area

from bec_n_craig
Walk in rate RM 159 with breakfast, club floor/lounge access.

Rooms great, agree that bathroom needs reno.

Breakfast below average, and food in general.

Staff pretty rude and unhelpful with major attitudes.

Area is fairly dodgy, working girls walking about. Not many places to eat, but a few stops away on the monrail to the action.

Ausgezeichnete Bewirtung

from MAQ786
Hervorragender Service.

Best deal available in KL

from RolandBali
My last day at the Citrus hotel and I am convinced that this is the best deal you can get here in KL for your money.

I paid MYR 199/night for my Superior Executive Room which gives me access to the Club Lounge where free soft drinks and finger food is provided. The lounge is on the top (10th.) floor, so is my room. The lounge features two desktop computers in case you don't bring your laptop.

The contemporary styled room is clean and provides enough space for a comfortable stay. It features a 25 inch TV with 6 local and 4 international channels. Sure, program choice could be more extensive.

Air condition can be personal adjusted. Bath room could be more up-to-date, saying it would be great if guests could choose between rooms with shower or bath tube instead of the offered combination. At least for my taste.

The Citrus restaurant at the Ground Floor offers great food. Breakfast selection could be more extensive for my European taste, but you can't have everything for that price tag, right. The hotel is offering a lunch set menu for an unbelievable MYR 10.00/person. It includes soup, a choice between at least two main courses, dessert and coffee/tea. Food is delicious! Hope the hotel keeps that policy going.

A la carte, you can choose from a wide selection of food and beverages. Great prizes once again. Location wise it isn't bad either. It's a five to ten minutes walk to the nearest Monorail station. The hotel lies in between two of them, so you choose. Taxi's are difficult to get. If you get one and the driver wants to turn on the meter, you'll pay MYR 5.00 from the hotel to KLCC or anywhere else in Bukit Bintang. Should be the same to KL Central.

Well, to summon up. If you are on a budget of USD 50/night for KL, the Citrus hotel should be your choice. I'll be back soon.

Two thumbs up!

from KatyT
Citrus Hotel is a relatively new hotel in KL. It is currently available at great promotional prices, although I don't know how long it will be offered. A stay in the executive superior room cost me MYR 179 nett, inclusive of breakfast. Wireless internet is offered in all rooms, and this scored the hotel big brownie points from me. Parking space was also provided.

I reserved a room online, and got a confirmation call the very next day from a very courteous Mr Dil. Check-in took a while, but it was a public holiday, and the staff were all occupied. However, they were friendly, polite, and willing to answer questions.

The decor was very modern, with an IKEA-feel to it. The room was fantastic. Very comfy bed, tastefully designed, cheery, with a great view of the KLCC towers. Very clean. Complimentary water was provided, along with coffee/tea-making facilities, and a mini fridge filled with snack and drinks. Newspaper was also complimentary. A few selected cable channels were available on TV. Hair-dryer was also provided.

Room-service was provided with no extra charge. Fast, efficient delivery, and great service. Food was good, even pleased my partner's tastebud, and he is very picky about his food.

The room came with an attached bathroom, with a bathtub and showerhead. Very clean and new. Great, citrus-y smelling bathroom amenities were provided.

Breakfast was a rather crowded affair, and the waitresses looked a bit rushed, but was however, still very polite. Good variety, although the rolls were a bit hard. The quality of the food were commendable.

I was very sorry to leave my comfy bed when check-out time came.

Soon to be renamed 'Fawlty Towers'

from MTT82
For all intents and purposes, the Citrus Hotel appears to be a nice place to stay.

The illusion is shattered the moment you walk in the door.

Upon arrival in our 'Executive Suite,' we discovered that

- our toilet was leaking

- our bath plug was faulty and could not be removed

- the electrical socket for our TV did not match the socket in the wall

- we had tea and coffee, but nothing to drink from

- the hotel had no spare umbrellas... during the rainy season

- there were no adaptors of any kind available for foreign appliances

The staff at the hotel were amongst the rudest we have ever encountered.

We were informed by the management that an upgrade to a superior room (on account of the fact that our bath was faulty) was "impossible." After requesting a discount on our stay, we were originally offered a "free meal at the hotel's restaurant" (the food on offer, suffice to say, was dreadful).

After a near two day impasse - where we were forced to wait in the hotel until staff decided whether to repair our bath or move us to a new room, we were finally moved to room with a functional bath and informed that the hotel was "sorry for the inconvenience." A suggestion that a complimentary bottle of wine might help smooth things over was noted - and then ignored.

After this we noticed that staff went out of their way to avoid us - notably not serving us at breakfast. The coup d' grace arrived when, after not receiving a room service menu in our new room, we called the Front Desk for the umpteenth time to have one sent to us.

Subsequent calls to the Kitchen/Front Desk went unanswered for twenty minutes - until I went downstairs and noticed that they were deliberately ignoring calls from our room. When my wife finally got through she was informed that the kitchen "was closed" (although it was not scheduled to close for another half hour).

All in all I would rate the Citrus Hotel - and in particular its staff - the worst I have even encountered in fifteen years of travel.
