Thursday we had our walking tour of Lourdes booked for 2pm.
On the way we stopped to take a ride on the funicular railway which goes up the
Pic du Jer. At 1000m this is one of the first foothills of the Pyrenees. The ride takes under 10 minutes and the views from the top are brilliant. As it was so clear you could hear the mass being held in the cathedral way down below in Lourdes.

Cock-a-doodle do or cock-a-doodle don"t
... with high winds and a not so young and daring painter ( ! ) we are going to have to get hold of some sort of scaffolding to do the high bits. It doesn’t help that everything needs sanding down and at least 3 coats due to being left for so long. I am sure we will get there – one thing we do have is time! Fortunately the weather has been great,if a little too hot with temperatures into the 30s, so progress is steady but thorough.
