    ... alive during building to stave off future evil! This one had been found during renovations. Delightful.

    We wandered a little in the garden afterwards, but it was (just) a massive succession of lawned areas and avenues of immense trees. We departed to sit by the lake with a lovely view of the chateau and ate our baguettes for lunch.     ... we've had in Brittany and then proceeded to walk to the old town. The guide books had led us to believe that there were very few half timbered houses left following the major fire of 1720 but were we very pleasantly surprised at what we saw whilst wandering around.

    ... this walk... I didn't take a camera, we were just going to go around the block, and it was drizzling when we started. But the slippery cobbles led us on up this gorgeous little lane past artists studios and restaurants in the houses terraced up the hill, through dripping gardens and up stone staircases onto the ramparts of the old city. What a fabulous place. I'll return with camera and more description another day, there's more up there than the little we saw ...

    ... don't want to use the portaloo, which you may have noticed we usually tow behind in the dinghy. Why tow the dinghy? Not sure! But it came with the boat and is in good condition, not sure it will be after a few hundread locks sorry ecluses, it also reminds me that I have over 3 metres of mast sticking out the back of the boat.

    ... more next to the pictures rather than here, it will make more sense then. We visited a place that grows and processes oysters. The lecture from the owner was really interesting, but the tasting after, yuk. I wonder if I'll ever develop a taste for oysters.
