... part was well-executed at least.
Amanda and company are totally adorable and fantastic hosts, by the way. I have definitely been well-fed, and this place would be perfect if it weren't so damn far from civilization. They have fresh tomatoes, apples, grapes, pears, pumpkins, eggs (yes they have chickens), and other delights that I'm sure I'm forgetting. For the first two days it was great to unwind and relax ...
... around the pool in the sunshine for a week, until the weather changed and became more autumnal. Helene left us after a fez days, and we stayed on our own in coussay whilst papa, maman and granny went back to Thouars. It's nearly the end now, only one more stage until we come back home!
Coussay, Poitou-Charentes, France natsandfrancoisMoby is running well. We stopped slightly further south than originally intended as we decided to spend Wednesday at Futuroscope. I might be doing (and most probably am) the French a complete disservice by suggesting that some years back, some brainstorming went on as to how to attract tourists to this part of France as this is just the middle of France with not much going on in the way of wine or river setting. Futuroscope was the result.
As you approach on the A10 you catch a ...
... I love the smaller room with it's sloping roof and little window light, but nice to have a change).
It's been a week now and I'm trying to remember what we've done, um.... There was a lovely couple of days spent in the vegetable batch tying up and weeding the tomatoes. We had a Supervisor in the shape of a really funky looking yellow and black spider that sat on the leeks and kept us in line! Another day, I finished off filling ...
... and found another free camping spot. However, this place wasn't so luxurious. In fact as we were going to bed some french kids started drinking on a bench a few yards away. Olly had a go at some manly stuff and tried his hand at fishing. Need I say he failed. Fish don't like pain au chocolat. But on the plus side we saw a frog the size of a puppy.
... We went back to his place to make some dinner and I met his English roommate, Keeva. She's so hilarious and fun. She went with us to this one club where we were going to a Metronomy concert (look them up they are.............odd). Also, Jeff's Scottish friend Tam met up with us there too. The concert was really fun as was the rest of the night. These Poitiers people are crazy though. At one point I got talked into riding in a shopping cart ...
Poitiers, France mamakarpus... Women in long puffy dresses walking along chatting or gossiping with other women in long puffy dresses and black laced up high heel boots. I can see them curtsy and bow as a Royal coach passes by. You can almost hear the blacksmith hammering away at the hard hot metal, while making horse shoes and maybe amour for the Royal guards. Probably, even craftsmen making swords to present to the King and Royal Courts. Imagine farmers arriving in the town as daylight approaches to sell their ...
Poitiers, France padalecki... establishments in our area were sleazy in nature, offering peepshows, private booths and activities requiring the wearing of rubber suits. Why pay for rubber tights when you've got your own packed discretely in your luggage? DAY 6 FRI As I write: We are sitting in the departure lounge of Nantes Airport waiting to meet the Peugeot representative. I don't know about Margaret (who looks calm) but I am feeling very tense. Margaret will be doing all the driving, which is the ...
Poitiers, France cullism... ai trouvé de la soupe au poulet ici: "Poule au Pot", qu'elle s'appelle. cute, han? --- Alright, so I just sat down with a small bowl of cream of 9-vegetables and a big chunk of oh-so-good French bread with butter that tasted too good for my diet (what diet?). I think this entry is a bit overdue. You will have to excuse my not writing anything in the past week, even though I don't really have any valid excuse for it, except that you all are nice, forgiving and patient people. Yes ...
Poitiers, France sharobichaudToday we went to Futuroscope. First we saw a show about the International Space Station (ISS). Then, we saw a show about Deep Sea Divers. It was a little weird, because one of the divers prayed to the sea. We ate lunch, and saw a show called Wings of Courage, about a mailman airplane pilot. After that, we saw a movie called Fear in the Mine. I did not like it at all. Your chaired moved and it was 3-D. We saw a show about how the monarch butterfly ...
