... so this was my chance.

With the help of 'Doris' our trusty sat nav and armed with my 'all the aires' book we found our aire on the outskirts of St Malo no problem at all........but we soon discovered that our 'open all year round' aire was closed!! Whilst we pondered what to do next and I got the 'that's another fine mess you've got us in to' look we were approached by a lovely old french monsieur who was ...

(Sun) Well I guess that our run of good weather had to end at some point and that was today. Just about managed to make it back from the boulangerie without our baguette and croissants getting too wet! Then as the saturated crowd applauded him, he bowed and still whistling, crossed the road oblivious to thunder ...

Despite yesterday's forecast we awoke to high winds and after breakfast and showers for everyone except Frances it started to drizzle, then rain hard. So we lingered in the office whilst Pat made small talk with owner. In a break in the weather we set off for Cancale to have one last seafood lunch. We got there just in time to shelter in a bar for coffee. We took our ...

Moving on from Brittany we headed East into Normandy and to an area very much on the beaten path – the Mont St Michel. Brittany and Normandy still disagree over which region Mont St Michel belongs to, and you could see why they would fight over it. Despite the abbey being an iconic image when conjuring up images of France, the mont had never really been on my must see list either. However it really is a magnificent sight.
