... John, it was good fun and our turns ended when we both toppled the tractor over! We then went up on to the veranda with fantastic views across the vineyards and the wine we tasted was one of the local wines from a village that was pointed out in the distance. Their soil had both chalk and flint and this meant that the soil held the heat from the sun much longer into the evening which apparently favoured white grape growing. ... to explore Bourges on Sunday. It was worthwhile, as we had the chance to explore the Bourges Cathedral and the old town itself. There are many sections of the town which date from the medieval times, with wooden framed houses down most lane ways. It is a town of about 66,000 friendly people. We found a wide choice of restaurants and cafes on Saturday, but fewer on Sunday.
