... To be honest, that was more than enough of a look at the red light district. Some people wanted to go to Sex shows so they took off, a group of us visited a Coffee housen called The Grasshopper and had a few drinks and waited for the late night bus back. We walked back to the meeting point, stopping at Maccas for a Chocolate Sundae on the way. The bus picked us up at 11.30pm and we got in rather late, past midnight sometime and flopped into bed...a late-ish start tomorrow to Volendam!
Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands jasndan... but full of open-air cafes serving an international variety of cuisine. Our Choice? Italian, and they were used to a diverse clientele. Our waiter/host/promoter spoke Dutch, English, French, and I think Portuguese all with an Italian accent. Our habit of eating earlier than the euros continued, but we were glad. By the time we left the place was full, the staff was scrambling and the two cooks were in the weeds.

Dit betekent dat er maar liefst 20 kinderen weer een jaar naar school kunnen gaan; onderwijs is het beste wapen tegen armoede. Bedankt allemaal!
Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands noboardersHappy Easter! This has been a very different Easter for us! The first thing we noticed when we arrived was how incredibly humid it is. I am not sure if it is always like this, or if it was a weather pattern, but it was quite muggy. We were able to check into our hotel when we arrived (at 9:00 AM), so once we were all cleaned up we took the train into town. It was quite an ...
Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands brittany-randy... most disgusting thing anyone has ever seen, but we are all managing.

The red light district was an experience... You could get high from just walking the streets, there is so much weed around!

The Ann Frank house was really interesting, we are so glad we went there
Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands jade85... for her 8th grade English students. Hundreds of people were milling around the "straats". There were infinite masses of brightly colored flowers popping out of boxes everywhere: from stairways, balconies, bridges, store and cafe fronts... the sun was playing games behind the clouds, the temperature changed dramatically every few minutes. Commercial cruiseboats meandered nonchalantly through the canals with their payloads of ...
Amsterdam, Netherlands mrcolella... stained glass and woodwork and stone floors. It is the only church in the world surrounded by old brothels, which we found an interesting contrast.... Kim tried a local Dutch snack, a cone of fresh french fried potatoes with mustard and mayonnaise. Delicious, but a heart attack in a cup haha! We then walked to the Van Gogh Museum, and saw a couple floors of ...
Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands lavish48... different sort- the Sex Museum. I find myself rather speechless about the whole event, other than it was good for a few gigles, a few "what in the world's" and the point when, quite honestly, it was just time to leave. With only three and a half hours to spend in the city, believe it or not, it was about time to go. I have managed to pick up my must have Amsterdam souveneir, tulip bulbs, and have taken ...
Amsterdam, Netherlands lkbphmd... the walls and the flooring and know what happened there. The house doesnt have any furniture in it now, but they have preserved things like the wall paper and the pencil markings on the walls that meausred the kids' height while they were living there. And they still have the posters on the walls that Anne put up to decorate her walls, and some of the games they played with. I was actually quite surprised at the how big the house is. Its not huge or anythiing, but i ...
Amsterdam, Netherlands misschristieHey guys!! We have arrived in the world renowned city of Amsterdam-our third country in under a week! From Reims we headed to the teensie weensie little country of Luxembourg where we spent two nights in the tiny, but picturesque capital that is nestled in a valley. Although not exactly the liveliest place we've visited (not greatly improved by the fact that it rained the entire time we were there) the autumn leaves on all the trees and the pretty old buildings ...
