After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!<br>

... and not campervan parking friendly. We found a picture perfect stop just after Monte Carlo at the top of a hill overlooking the Med. We had the place to ourselves so we russelled up some brekkie in the sun which was lovely, so much so we were in t-shirts!!!

Gorges Verdon... Route Napoleon

Gorgeous morning and a stunning place for breakfast awaited us just outside Scooby overlooking the lake. I went for a run but Kim was feeling a little under the weather so she stayed and made me breakfast - yay! We spotted two girls about our age and attempted to engage in some conversation but their English was limited and French is rubbish. Shame as its manily been the grey hair brigade we ...

... first day in Nice was spent on the beach, we couldn't wait to go into the ocean, that we went swimming without towels. Wasn't a good idea since Nice is all rock beaches and we couldn't really sit to dry off... WE had a delicous pasta dinner at Pasta Basta and ordered the finest wine on ...

Later, we enjoyed some leisure time walking around the Palace Square, through the lanes and streets of Monaco-Ville. The photo shows them along the beach towards Cannes and some of the yachts compared to a cruise ship. We stayed a couple of days in the hinterland behind Cannes, which was lovely, to visit the ...

Nice

... we determined the correct platform for our connecting train we ran full speed there and boarded the train 2 minutes before it started moving. This was probably the first of many close calls on the European rail system. The train to Nice took us through the rail stations of ritzy destinations such as Cannes and Aix-en-Provence. We arrived in Nice to the hustle and bustle of a chic port city that is very reminiscent of a city such as ...

Monaco, Monte Carlo and Money

... Of course you could choose to live on ;your yacht; the harbor is full of them, some even with a helicopter on deck, to whisk you to your jet at the Nice airport. (Monaco is too small for an airport). We traveled the path of the Monaco Grand Prix road race, and I'll be sure and watch for it on tv now. We walked up to the Cathedral where Grace Kelly married Ranier, and where she is buried, and to the Royal ...

Nice, France

... The death in 1388 of Countess Jean de Provence prompted a war of succession, which was settled by the incorporation of the Comté de Nice (essentially today's Alpes-Maritime department) into the lands of Italy's House of Savoy. During the next 400 years there were only two brief periods of French rule: 1706-13, when Louis XIV occupied the city, and 1792-1814, when the new French Republic took control. Following the fall of Napoleon, the Comté de Nice was ceded to Victor Emmanuel ...
