... we would go and look at the mechanicals on the other side of the river. Hopped on the tram, walked over the bridge and found guess what - closed on Mondays! But we had a fabulous sightseeing day - the Chateau, the cathedral, the fountains and the pavement cafés. Home on the tram for a peaceful evening, ready for visiting Sue and Tony Berridge tomorrow.

We followed Snooper's instruction and found ourselves ploughing through heavy floods going through the centre of Nantes. Snooper isn't squeamish - oh no! Towing Smartie, we went right through with all the other traffic and a marathon or some other ...
... Jardin des Plantes, very close to the railway station, with some huge examples of topiary and slightly bizarre artwork. What was noticeable about the garden, considering the proximity to the station, were the lack of down and outs using park benches as a bed as may have been expected - the one we saw seemed happy sat outside the station café drinking an espresso. Maybe they just have a better class of homelessness in Nantes?

Our diner destination was called La Cigale, it was located on one of the most impressive squares in the city and the interior is extremely ornate, it was like walking into a museum. Dinner was another extravagant feast for the senses that lasted 3 hours.
Our first super long train ride of the trip. The ride from Paris to Nantes seemed to take more time than physically possible. Once in Nantes we had a layover before our next train ride and were able to explore a absolutely gorgeous park. You can look at the photos and let your imagination fill in the rest.
