I short ride to get me back into the cycling, at just 70km.
The terrain was very hilly at first and therefore very slow. Once again google directed me down a muddy gravelly rooty offroad track which required a suspension bike. I fell off at some speed as the pedal hit a tree stump which was concealed by fallen leaves. I had to reload the panniers and bag as they had gone flying off and then got going again.

After breakfast and coffee with Nick I packed up and made tracks for Gif which lies South west of Paris. To get there I had to cycle straight through Paris. 70 KM, Fairly easy going first half and tougher second. I arrived in Gif mid afternoon and indulged in some luxuries; a bath, a good hot meal, Gin, a good internet connection, and a warm bed. ...

... with a girl draped across it and some guys holding up a big panel reflecting the light onto the model and a photographer dude saying 'hurry up mum'! It really wasn't that obvious. We returned to our walk along the Champs Élysées, went through the Tuileries which are gardens and ended up in front of the triangle thingie outside the Louvre. We had decided to leave the Louvre for tomorrow afternoon so turned right again towards the Seine intending to make for Note Dame ...

What a full day we've had today. I won't bore you with the usual breakfast details and zoom straight into the adventure we've enjoyed today, from rags to riches, artists to kings! Our first port of call this morning was Montmatre, the home of famous artists such as Matisse and Picasso but also to more sordid pastimes such as the famous Moulin Rouge and its Can Can dancing. The Paris Passes we purchased online, gave us the enthusiasm and direction we needed to commence the day. It gives you 'jump the queue' access to over 60 venues. So we looked at the maps and made a plan. After a quick coffee, juice and croissant all for €7 for two, we headed to "The Musée du Louvre" only to discover that all museums are closed on Tuesday! Oops, change of plans. So off to monuments instead. The Arc de Triumphe ...
