I short ride to get me back into the cycling, at just 70km.
The terrain was very hilly at first and therefore very slow. Once again google directed me down a muddy gravelly rooty offroad track which required a suspension bike. I fell off at some speed as the pedal hit a tree stump which was concealed by fallen leaves. I had to reload the panniers and bag as they had gone flying off and then got going again.

After breakfast and coffee with Nick I packed up and made tracks for Gif which lies South west of Paris. To get there I had to cycle straight through Paris. 70 KM, Fairly easy going first half and tougher second. I arrived in Gif mid afternoon and indulged in some luxuries; a bath, a good hot meal, Gin, a good internet connection, and a warm bed. ...

... proximity The photos show where we have walked over the last few days. Arch de Triomphe,Louvre, Tuilleries, Rue Mouffetard - just to name a few. The apartment has a laptop so we are making the most of it setting up the blog. Next apartment we will only be able to use IPad. ... serious eating. we did a 50 km ride yesterday that had a big long hill ( about 7 degrees) and i ended up pushing the bike up some of it. it was 36 degrees and really humid so the perspiration was just dripping off us. The scenery all the way up to the Cormet de Rosaline is magical and I had a lovely conversation in French with this beautiful old lady who talked to me about all the meadow wild flowers teaching me the names I did t know. We even saw guys riding up with camping ...

... by our eager teenagers, ready to spend some money and purchase MORE stuff to cram into their already full suitcases.
