... abound) make this a truly beautiful city. Its palette is subdued, earthy and homogenous, spiced up by splashes of red, blue and black on café awnings, taxis and boats. The success of the urban planning in creating such a pleasing aesthetic can be best exemplified in the way that McDonalds blends into the streetscape, its Golden Arches reduced to lower wall space and no more than 1m high. ... by a Powerade chaser. I got dressed into my running gear and woke everyone else up to get ready. I was so nervous I was shaking and I hadn't even left the apartment. ... hurdle. There are two trains that have our next station. Which one do we get on. Experience tells me you go where the mad rush is and we flocked. A women on board mentioned that it does stop at Nord but will it in time. There are two stops between Gar de Lyon and Nord, and we are now packed in like sardines. I short ride to get me back into the cycling, at just 70km.
The terrain was very hilly at first and therefore very slow. Once again google directed me down a muddy gravelly rooty offroad track which required a suspension bike. I fell off at some speed as the pedal hit a tree stump which was concealed by fallen leaves. I had to reload the panniers and bag as they had gone flying off and then got going again.
