... Montreux Jazz festival is on so it was quite packed. We saw a few of the touristy things to see, like the Freddy Mercury statue and the Grand Swiss Hotel where Smoke on the Water was written and recorded. We then took a cog train up the alps to Rochers-de-Naye. It is not the highest train in Switzerland to do but it was the closest to where we were staying. It took an hour to wind around ...

    Race Day

... After a celebratory drink we made our way back to the bus stop and managed to buy some tickets this time. The younger generation slept the whole journey , anyone would have thought they had done a triathlon. We stocked up at the supermarket with BBQ food and more beer, before returning back to base camp. As usual Duncan was in charge of an excellent BBQ and I wrongly thought we had bought too much food and drink. Evening games ended a very successful day ...

Today we started the Swiss leg of our holiday, taking the train from Lyon to Geneva.

The train trip took just under 2 hours and was quite comfortable.

We arrived in Geneva just after midday and then had McDonalds for lunch before picking up our next rental car - a Skoda station wagon (sexy beast).

... late here. Even the sun seemed to be half asleep, meaning that I was making my way through the city on a rather dark gloomy day. The weather just keeps getting worse and worse the longer I stay here, lol. Anyway, it seemed as though most things were going to open at 10. The Cathedral supposedly opens at 9.30 but I stayed there till 9.45 and it still wasn't open. So not only do things open late here, but they don't open on time either, it seems. Maybe its part of ...

... the time when she was in Canada, when we spoke french, we both did not understand the other without really listening...and it was similar here...we all had to repeat ourselves a few times...but at least we were able to communicate...lol

All in all, it was a pleasant experience in Geneva but can't really say that I will return unless I have a purpose to...bye Geneva, onward to La Tzoumaz/Verbier and skiing in the Alps...Soooooo excited.
