The Long Haul to Paris

A travel blog entry by mjc63

Checked my emails at the airport and saw one of my change records for next week was rejected. I sent a text to the PM and I promise that is the last I'll think of work for 6 weeks.

The flight to Malaysia took 8.5 hours but didn't really seem that long - mind you, I watched 3 movies and 4 episodes of Big Bang Theory to help pass the time. …

It's Dangerous Out There!

A travel blog entry by mjc63

We both felt much better after a good nights sleep. We woke up to another magnificent morning and set ourselves modest targets for the day to end off with an evening trip up the Eiffel Tower.

First stop was a boulangerie down the street for breakfast the highlight being when the woman behind the counter understood my order in French (I …

First full day in Paris......WOW

It is 5pm and we are just back in the hotel. Got in late last night to a big culture shock after five star treatment in Dubai. Small old rooms and not connected but the beds are comfy and we all got sleep. Luke and Jauns were off wandering local streets by 7am and picked up supplies for the apartment. We then braved the streets and walked to marche …

Beating the heat with Monet and da Vinci

A travel blog entry by oski

I woke up in the morning with sinus pressure and congestion. I guess 12 days straight of traveling and sightseeing has taken its toll. Jeremy let me sleep in and did some neighborhood exploring on his own. One of the tricky parts about the Paris streets is how they all shoot off in different directions. Some are straight and some are windy. So, you can generally know which direction you should be going, but then the roads curve slightly or split into three more roads, ...

The Art of France

... da Vinci, Bellini and Spadaccino (ok maybe not Spadaccino, thats my Mom's family but very talented none the less). It was great. After that we went and saw the French collection. no offense, but the French paintings are morbid with many dead and tortured figures. Dont know whether to read anything into that. We then went to see the Venus Dimilo, a famous Greek sculpture from 125 BC which, though armless, is beautiful. As we were admiring ...

    Well Appointed and Clean

Our double studio room was very well appointed. It had a kitchen you could use if you wanted to cook your own meals and had a small dishwasher and microwave. The was plenty of space in the room as well. The bathroom wasn't any thing special but was also clean and functional. There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room but tea and coffee were available all day from the dinning room. The biggest complaint was the very flakey WIFI access, although as this was included in the room rate I guess it's hard to complain.
