... place to keep them retained!! For lunch we headed back to our hostel - hotel hortus which was a great place to stay - the hostess Kelly got talking and made an interesting point - you can be a tourist or a traveller! Amsterdam is full of wacky, quirky and amazing individuals where anything goes! It is slowly changing however but I am pleased we were able to see this awesome little town before it changes too ...

... up (well in the afternoon) we went to a nearby cafe to have some brunch which was nice and only €9 for scrabbled egg, two slices of toast, a croissant with ham and cheese and a coffee. We then went for a wander. Make sure you go to a cafe rather than a coffee shop as the coffee shops are where you can smoke cannabis. We ended up visiting the torture museum which was €7.50 entrance. ... some food and wander around the city. We were typical Americans and found a burger bar. No shame, it was delicious!
We downed our burgers and made our way over to the Red Light District. The entire district was a lot smaller than I thought, but there was still enough space for those girls in the window to have a successful night of working.
It was actually a funny experience because half of the women looked bored. Most of them were on ...

    Wednesday 23rd September,Over Turkey (I think)
Took off from Amsterdam about six hours ago and flight boredom has well and truly set in. Just finished watching 'The Lone Ranger' - absolute rubbish. Thank god for Johnny Depp - his scenes were, at least, watchable.

Amsterdam was terrific. From the moment we set foot in the place we felt incredibly relaxed. (Nothing to do with the dozey cafés). We had a similar response ...
