The ship was scheduled to arrive in Semarang at 9:00 AM, but they had a bit of trouble with the gangway (they said), so it was probably 9:15 before people began to leave. The big destination for many people from Semarang is Borobudur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world, but we had visited it in 2012 when we took the Grand Asia and Australia cruise. It was difficult to know which side to look as we passed workers in their coolie hats tending the rice crops, the fisherman along the waters edge, the birds as they hovered and then swooped down to catch the fish before the fishermen. It was such a memorable sight.
