would recommend, it is a bit out of the way but getting a tuktuk is no trouble. they wait out the front, taxis are available too. the food is lovely if a little pricey, but very convienient. the bar is also great if not a bit pricey too. the rooms are very clean and the a/c works brilliantly as well as the wifi.

      Great view

The View from our room is fantastic, it overlooks the pool, but if you look further you can see the River. The decour is fantastic, the whole place has a nautical theme (was very interesting seeing a 20something wearing a sailor uniform who was just a conceriege).
Another downer for this place, was our room instead of a double sized bed, actually has 2 singles push together. Which is basically the same thing, but it will make snuggling hard.
I am very happy with the selection of teas, so it's alright.

Dambulla Caves and the Spice Gardens

An easy enough start this morning as bags were packed and ready to go, so after breakfast we headed first to Dambulla where four caves lie on top of a hill. On ascent a mixture of steps and raw rock eventually lead you to an area where you hand over your sandals and proceed barefoot on extremely cobbled ground. Four caves of varying size lie ahead …

True to his word he was there at 5 and we picked up a couple of others too and headed for the park. We were there around 6 hours and saw ...

... filter back through my body. I don’t think I could ever convert.

We went to two others. Same routine. Another temple was built on a decent amount of land. Dogs were playing in the courtyard. A music offering to Buddha was going on and I had to wait fifteen minutes to go inside the little cave where he was kept. Begrudgingly, I waited. The inside held the same things. A monk was keeping watch over the donation basket. As I walked in, his cell phone rang and ...

... twice. I have now been 5 times and really love it there. There is one young women who is probably around 25 and I asked her to sing a Singhalese song for me while we made some bracelets. It was so beautiful - you know the Eastern singing you sometimes here with the wobbly notes?! I don't know how to describe it but it's so haunting and sounded so lovely, it was quite emotional. I asked her what the song was about and she told me it was about her brother who was away in ...

... away somewhere in a jungle. It felt like everybody wanted to talk to us, sell us something, show us the market or get us a tuktuk. After about the 27th time of being asked „where are you from“ I got really ****** off and unfortunately snapped at someone who really just wanted to tell us the way to the trainstation. A few minutes later we got our tickets and after grabbing a bite and having a cone of soft ...
