After yesterday's epic drive, we were hoping for a slightly easier trip today as we headed towards Monte Carlo.

Stopped off for lunch in Cannes, which was nicer than expected. Enjoyed our first "proper" French meal since arriving - quite a change from the motorway food so far!! It's also much warmer than we'd expected - 27C this afternoon.

Took a stroll along the beach promenade and up to the main ...

... drinks plus they 'free pour' (don't measure) the spirits so it got pretty rowdy. Plus we befriended the bar tender and got free drinks. Elysia left about 1am and I was there till almost 3. Music was really good and they knew we were almost all Aussies so they smashed out some johnny Farnham and we all went nuts! There were a few people under the weather, one guy urinated on the bar and we had to help a few that were a bit sick! I did not feel well the net ...

Marche Gambetta - the Gambetta Market

Sometime back we stumbled, literally, on an open air market in the center of Cannes. We were headed elsewhere but made a note that we wanted to check it out. So today we headed back. It is called Marche Gambetta or the Gambetta Market. It's origins are Italian and for most of the week it is fruits and vegetables, etc. But also homemade pasta, rows of olives, cheeses, marinated peppers and artichokes, marinara sauces, Italian salami. And ...
