Went with Jason to Taishan for the weekend. Well more like we left Saturday evening, had dinner with his friends, and then woke up to spend the day in the countryside (And yes, I spent the night at a hotel while he stayed at his family's home). When my cousin tells me we are going to the countryside where my family lives, what he means is we are going to a remote spot where they have rice fields and vegetable gardens, but they still have toilets, ...

Only the front facade of the church remains after a fire destroyed the rest of the church in 1835. There's a grand staicase in front of the church, which, to me, resembles the Spanish Steps in Rome. At the bottom of the stairs is a mosaic walkway which leads to Largo do ...

June 30, 2007 Macao Macau (same same) Today is Macao (or Macau) Day for us. Macao is a former Portuguese colony and so has a unique Iberian/Oriental mix. There's an unusual World Heritage Site in the historic center of Macao made up of eight squares and twenty-two historic buildings. They are not all grouped together in one spot but rather dispersed around the town so you have to have a guide map and hike around town ...
