... br>Hotel was fantastic. 5 star luxury with sauna and steam room, which I enjoyed. Roof top pool overlooked the Mediterranean coast line. Ferrari's frequently pulling up out front with people arriving to gamble at the casino (the hotel has its own and is right next door to the main Monte Carlo casino). €500 notes being handed over at casino tables.
I went to the main casino on one night with high expectations. It was v quiet. Probably ...

Language is more interesting in france. If we try to do the simple tourist things then most people can work out what is going on but when we try something else eg. going to the doctor (sue has been sick) going to a chemist.. or finding a Laundamatt.. then the language thiig is a bit more animated....

12hrs after i checked out of my Barcelona hotel, i am in Monte Carlo!!!!! Luckily got the last bus from the Nice airport to Monaco. Amazing bus trip here. I think i was wide-eyed and jaw dropped for much of it. Although it is night, you can see some amazing views, yachts and cross some bridges with HUGE drop-offs down into the coastal valley. The streets truly are Grand Prix style. Can't wait to ...
... such a picturesque place they even have perfume refinery where Sandy and Annalisa added aroma to their beauty. We were so close we had to drive into Monaco, and see the King if he would have us. But, Alas we were detained in traffic and missed Him.
Dining in Antibes-We went to a restaurant in old town Antibes and had pasta for dinner, because that’s what you’re supposed to have in that part of the world. Sandy thought she was ordering seafood, but instead ...
... was shining and we were thrilled to find we were only about a hundred meters from the beach. After dinner together and a good night's sleep, they took us to Cannes where the 62nd annual film festival was taking place. Michel gets movie tickets through his work (now retired) and they gave us invitations to have cocktails on one of the hotel verandas as well as passes for the movies of the day. At that point, we said our goodbyes, and they went to their ...
Antibes, Provence, France jamierand... We found out that she too was going to Milan alone to meet a friend and was having trouble with the trains because of the strikes. She is also living in Antibes and is from Brazil. I asked her if she knew what sorpressa meant and she had no idea but could ask her friend. She then brought over a 75 year old man who only spoke French and Italian. We asked him what sorpressa meant and he said that that train was not running. I looked back at the screen and I couldn't see ...
Antibes, Provence, France k1thomas... of the Resistance in WWII. We wanted to find the town's museum to the Resistance as we had both recently read Peter Fitzsimons book on Nancy Wake, who had spent time in this area. Unfortunately we could not locate the Museum in the town, but were fascinated by the huge rock guarding the town's entrance, which had a church on its summit. Nothing else. Could not even see a way up. The Church can be seen for miles as you approach the town. Thursday and we ...
Antibes, France bucksbeach... have anyway, he is a lovely guy. More on Antibes in future blogs as we have already discovered what a magnificent interesting part of France we have arrived in. However a photo of Di and Patrick is attached. This is taken in our car park (and boat park). Yes we park in the Marina and it is about 200 meters from our home. The nearest restaurant and watering holes (including an Irish Pub, a Colonial Pub (mainly ...
