    ... There are two more Christmas markets near the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedaechtnis Kirche, which is the remains of a famous church that was not completely destroyed during the allied bombing of this city toward the end of WW II. Only the tower (63 meters high) of the memorial church remains standing and it was left as a ruin, in memory of the destruction caused by WW II. It is a Neo-Romanesque style structure that is affectionately called "the hollow tooth" by Berliners.

    So after two and a half months of weather where it hasn't been below 30 degrees it was a little bit of a shock to the system coming to Berlin this week. It has only been around 15 degrees! We knew it would be colder, but it has hit us pretty hard, although it has been nice to wear some of the warm clothes we have bee carrying around for months and not using, and wearing jeans again!     ... of the wall there was a temporary photography exhibition highlighting other walls around the world such as those in Iraq, Israel, Korea and Mexico etc. It's sad that in this time we still have walls dividing people but I don't know much about these situations to comment. It was just moving to see the images and has tweaked my interest in learning about current affairs such as this.

The place is massive yet somehow during the war it survived intact even considering it was a strategic war target.
