At the hotel

Back at the St. Brides Spa Hotel in Saundersfoot.
Unfortunately, winter doesn't make this the best place to stay. It's dark when you are at the hotel, so you don't get the views. And the spa doesn't stay open late enough in the winter. At least I will get to enjoy it over the weekend.
And the walk along the coast - kind of scary in the dark. But you do get to see a bunch of stars and parts of the Milky Way because there isn't much light pollution out here.
Still getting ready.....

Ok, this is just a quick check that all is running smoothly with the blog, as I've had some problems. Hopefully You're all now getting e mail updates when a new entry is posted. We've also retrieved the log in details for the travelpod account we created last year so that you can log in and make (nice!) comments. Well done ...

Getting ready!

OK, here we go again, sat in Lyn's office trying to sort everything out. This year's trip has proved even more complicated to arrange, especially as we're flying out of Gatwick and back into Heathrow. We never like to do things the easy way! Also the dollar hasn ...

Horseback riding in Wales

Booked with Clyne Farms to go horse-back riding on the beach. But first we had to get our skills evaluated because when the horses see the wide open expanse of beach, they want to gallop. I was all for this. But it wasn't meant to be apparently. I've never ridden an English saddle before and it's been years since I've ridden a horse. Same with Jacqui. So the instructor said she ...

Exploring the Gower Peninsular

... all the effort just for the views.

I never did get to the tip of Worms Head though as it was the birds nesting season. I was happy enough to sit near a bird watcher and let him tell me what birds he could spot through his binoculars. A real big shame that hundreds of other people ignored the sign and went marching on. Lets hope nature has a way of coping with the disturbance and maybe the National Trust will ...

last day in wales

... excavated as well as the museum which had some interesting things in it. I wouldn't want to stay in this town for a really long period of time as there is not really that much there. It was very cute and quaint though.

We then set off for London and arrived late afternoon where i said good bye to all my new friends and headed off to Fulham to stay with Jade for a few nights before setting off again.

more castles....

So our first stop this morning was yet another castle ruins. This was set in the middle of nowhere with lots of sheep about but was quitenice and had good views of the surrounding countryside. The castle was verymuch like all the other castle i have seen before (the name for this one iscastle-y-bere).

We then went to the Eden valley to have a look at the dams which supply thewater to Birmingham. This was a pretty impressive dam and i wandered down tohave a bit of a look ...

After the hills, some hills.

... stay was at Llandeilo so took us by Carreg Cennan castle, an evocative castle ruin perched spectacularly atop a crag overlooking the Towy valley. Beneath the castle are subterranean tunnels that you can explore. Torches can be hired from the visitor centre.

On to Llandeilo. We booked into the Cawdor, an old coaching inn, and left my precious steed in the back of the ...

Last Night of Summer.. sort of.

... so excited for frisbee to start tomorrow. Today I ran around the only direction I hadnt turned yet out and found the little running path I've been looking for. I'll take pictures sometime. It goes past a castle-looking building (which turns out to be an academic department) and through the woods to a road that reminds me of Sandy Hill Road in Oyster Bay. Nice and covered and green and very few cars. So I ran for 30 minutes and came back still feeling really energtic so I ...
