... deep gorges, by the middle of the afternoon we turned off the main road and dropped down the side if a gorge, at one point it was so tight you could have touched both sides, however you would have got wet feet in the river. It's amazing how the roads are cut into the hillsides. Passing through a very narrow road in a village the overhanging balconies had their height painted on them, luckily the lowest was 3.5 metres.

After playing games with Logan in the large car park we headed towards a remote hilly area north of Agios Nikolaos. When we parked for lunch a car pulled alongside us to see if we were lost, the driver was Canadian, he told us he had come to Crete to escape the snow and was surprised to see so much here. ... of wire fencing, In one place the road sign was covered with snow and we took the wrong turn, realising we stopped to reverse, suddenly there was a very loud rumble followed by an even louder crashing sound!
