We were picked at 8 am and were driven about one hour away for an elephant safari.
This is a reserve where they have been successful in saving thousand of elephants.
We took many photos with these gentle giants. We also fed them and were delighted by an elephant circus show. The difference here is that these animals are very well taken care of in their natural jungle environment.
The most impressive part of the show was the elephant ...

... day, as the overnight train required us to be ready at the train station at 4:00pm. I am incredibly tired from the elephant experience, so I expect to be out soon. Chiang Mai was amazing. If I had to give any advice about Thailand, it would be to spend a good amount of time in Chiang Mai more so than Bangkok. Bangkok is awesome, but it no where near offers as much adventure and beauty as Chiang Mai.

My next entry will be from Bangkok.

Ali chose a temple for us to visit in the afternoon. It seems to be the nearest to the city and had good reviews. Name of it is Doi Suthep Temple. We caught to open air taxis up the mountain and arrived about 20min later. The temple was perched atop the ...

... supposed to get too close to them. They have a medical centre that gives them veterinary care (the elephants live longer here because the old ladies are given soft foods when their teeth fall out while elephants in the wild would be out of luck) and they are constantly being fed but can also graze. They can bathe in the water but visitors get buckets and can help splash water on the elephants. They have mud pits too which is a natural sunscreen for them and cools them ...

... excitement feeling as other places on our trip. We spent a day walking around and visiting the temples, a day walking around the city and the rest of the time at the markets, getting massages or eating. I guess it didn't help that the second hotel we stayed at was disgusting! I do like Chiang Mai and will always have a soft spot for it. I just think that we've slightly overstayed our welcome in Thailand and are ready for our next ...
