Columbia River Gorge
After landing in Portland we headed east to the Columbia River Gorge. There are several scenic places to stop. We crossed into Washington at Bridge of the Gods Trailhead. We then went west to spend the night in Vancouver, WA.

I guess one sign that you have had a fantastic vacation is that you are totally bummed out when you get home. I am bummed.
The trip home was uneventful, but long. Very long.
We were up at 5:00, off to Manchester by 6:30, and at the airport by 8:00 AM. Long lines and several security screenings. As we suspected, the car parts in our carry-on bags triggered extra inspections. Our checked baggage had a limit of 50 ...

By the time we left there we were starving so we went to a nice Italian restaurant near the hotel and had a very pleasent evening meal. It was happy hour too of course, so very reasonably priced.
All in all we had a fantastic time in Portland and would love to go back there, for the beer, food and coffee if nothing else!
Next up... Can Seattle do any better? And will we be sleepless there?

The Pacific Northwest - Washington & Oregon
... monorail from there into the commercial part of the city & followed the signs to the waterfront. It turned out that we were at the famous Pike Market that are similar to Adelaide's Central Market, but on this Saturday seemed even more vibrant. The fish stalls are particularly well known and had some wonderful fish on them. From that area we could also see some of the cruise ships which had come in that morning from their Alaska cruising ...
BRANDON AND COURTNEY'S WEDDING
Today we got up and had a quiet morning. The sun was out and the sky was blue, perfect day for a wedding!!
We started to get ready, girls put on their nails, curled their hair, put on makeup and we all got dressed up for the wedding. We left at 3pm and the wedding started a little late at 4.30pm
Skype was setup at the hall so the Brimelow family in Australia could watch the wedding online as they could not make the trip over.
