Another great SUNs (Single & Unaccompanied NCOs) Trip! This trip was originally called "Man vs. Food & Wild Snowmobiling Excursion", but after a less than stellar review of the 2 Foot Tall "Mt. Hakodate Burger", the food only became a challenge if you were not a seafood lover. ...but more of that later.

The next day we took the Shinkansen train (and oh my, it's fast!) all the way up north to Hakodate in Hokkaido (the most northern island of Japan). The countryside along the way reminded us very much of Switzerland. Apart from volcanoes and the sea there are lots of similarities.

... on stools so that you still had a pretty good view. The cable cars themselves were very big. No seats everyone stood and on the way down we were really packed in. Someone in our group thought that each car could take 120 people but we don't know if that is true. Whatever the number, it was a lot. Dinner had been booked at the ryokan for 7:30 pm. We didn't change for dinner as we couldn't because apart from nightwear and toothbrushes all our stuff was ...

A very nice hotel - it was arranged by our tour guide and price was included in the trip so I don't know how expensive it was.
