... not ideal for cycling. For that reason, I've chosen October as the preferred month although it was cold in the mountains of Nagano (but not a problem if you're dressed for it). (October is also harvest time for apples, grapes and persimmons which makes for deliciously fresh fruit.) ... of the Kanto plain which comprises Greater Tokyo, home to about 35 million people, it takes about 5 to 6 km to get to the countryside. As I said the other day, Iiyama was a perfect experience and it may be sometime before I feel that way again. I may have been spoiled for life and nothing else will compare.

Tomorrow will also be the final ride of my tour before I return to Tokyo on Sunday and get ready to fly back.

... a third night as this inn was so nice and the riding has been fantastic. The breakfast was delicious, always well presented with the little side dishes of various designs containing veggies and a portion of mackerel, tamagoyaki (Japanese style rolled omelette), rice and miso soup. ... We finally got them and headed inside. I got quite a shock that ringside didn't actually mean ringside - it meant one section back lol. I was pretty bummed but then when I saw where we were situated I got quite excited! We were right where the fighters do their walkout! It was so interesting watching them standing there waiting to walk out. Some where nervous. Some where stone faced and others were down right excited and jumping for joy. ... I definitely want to do it again - there is one that you can do at night and it's a floating restaurant!! After that we met Seijis beautiful wife and daughter and headed to a sumo food restaurant. Words can not describe how special this experience was.
