Like in India, a surprising lack of diversity. I had thought that all major cities in the world were becoming like San Francisco, where there is NO majority group, and people from every continent live in every neighborhood. Nope, it's not like that, not yet. It's beautiful jet-black hair as far as the eye can see, except that 5-10% of the men and women opt to tint their hair auburn.

Kaohsiung has two night markets, open every day of the year. Several blocks are closed to traffic, and filled with food vendors and stalls selling purses, t-shirts, iPhone covers, and tchotchkes. Kaohsiung is a coastal city, so there's a lot of fresh seafood at the stalls. That and something called "stinky tofu" which is apparently an acquired taste, like French cheeses.
