    spent saturday wandering Lukang. It was a crazy day of parades with all of the temples organizing groups dressed in various themes... tons of firecrackers. accomodation is super booked up, so have to move on to Chiayi in the evening as my hostel is booked out for a birthday. The hostel I want in Chiayi is also booked for a wedding so have to stay at another place and switch tomorrow.

    ... now and in the next couple years the rest of the line should be repaired. That’s good because getting off at Fenchichu was really a pain in our timetable. We had to wait over an hour for a private car to take us to Alishan, which was way quicker than the 2-3 hour wait for the bus. Once we were in the private car, it was an hour drive to Alishan, so we arrived there at about 1:45pm.

    ... without getting soaked. We attempted getting in a cab but I had only written the directions and name of things in English. When we tried to get into the cab the lady just started yelling at me in Chinese. I had written all of our hotels, addresses, directions, and how much we owed them, for our whole trip on this one piece of paper.     Day 2! Today we checked out of the hotel and took a bus to Ten Drum Culture Village. We played traditional drums and got to try sugarcane juice. After that, we had lunch, and bought souvenirs at the souvenir shop. Then our bus took us to Chitou Natural Ecological and Education Area. It was so foggy since we were so high up!
