... tons of English information; and the town signs and sightseeing placards and monuments commonly have English transcription (and sometimes Russian). That mix of western influences means that you get these western looking buildings with Japanese style interiors, or apartment blocks with Korean tiles. Even today, at least from my perspective, I’ve found more western pastry shops per capita here and anywhere else. And the cakes look like they’d taste ...

... and we were able to see the mountain at Onuma Koen and the great view from Mt Hokodate. Jono demonstrated many action shots for the camera and Emily attempted, much to Jonos entertainment. Rode 14ks around the Onuma lake and did some fishing. Jono caught several fish and Emily caught one out of two attempts after some brilliant coaching from Jono.

Here we are on our 3rd day at sea. First day we passed near to Hokkaido and Honshu visible on the other side, where The Sea Of Japan meets the Pacific,on Hokkaido we could see the roads and rail structures and towns along the shore. There is a tunnel connecting the 2 Islands, one of the longest ,33ks,and deepest in the world, and rail only I think.That day was very rough seas and gale winds, but all was fine.
We co exist well ...

Morning market next to the JR in Hakodate >> Took street car to explore the city >>

Back to Hakodate station & found out that the train delayed >> Shinkansen stopped at Kanita >>

Bus to Shin Aomori >> Shinkansen to Tokyo >> Yaesu Terminal Hotel in Tokyo (no train to Kyoto as we planned)
