rented a scooter for $500 and drop up highway 11, switching to the quiet country road 23 to highway 9 and Fuli. Drove north to visit Sixty Stone Mountain, then a few km south to Loshan to see the waterfall and bubbling mud volcanos. The continued south on 9 to the Luye Plateau, then over to highway 197, then 45 to the Liji badlands. 195km for the day!
took the train to Taitung, had a great pork chop box lunch at the station, the boarded a free shuttle to the little village of Dulan. Walked to the beach, ate some vietnamese, and hung out at the abandoned Sugar Factory where there are now a bunch of artist studios and a stage for a different band every saturday night... and tonight was saturday!
