Our last stop before we finally see a familiar face in Tulum, is Playa del Carmen ��. It's different to Cancun in that the beach is more public, there aren't as many resorts lining the beaches and it seems a little more laid back. Unfortunately if you want any shade from the scorching heat whilst chilling at the beach you have to pay around $30 each for a lounge chair! Our first stop is snorkeling not far off the coast. Life jackets on because even though its relatively calm the current when you get into the water is one of the strongest I've ever felt. The coral and fishes are gorgeous and most of us spend a bit of time snorkeling and swimming.

... It passed soon enough and then, once again, it rained cats and dogs. I had a nice coffee at a typical café before 1.30 and read my book (a brilliant biography about Mick Jagger).
