It has only 47 people living there and most of them came aboard except for the elderly as it was a bit rough. There are only six children on the island so they had the day off school to come aboard.         ... there is a very large botanical garden on the island, we stopped at a smaller one that was free to enter. Regardless, it still had a wide array of plants and flowers. There was even papyrus. This was neat as I've taught students about the use of this plant for writing paper back in time but have never actually seen the plant up close.         ... be easier for us to get about at. I looked nicer too, the other one looked like it needed a little updating. But then again, anything will be better than rats and lizards crawling over me. It's mad that tomorrow we leave here and head for America. America has always been a going home thought. I've always thought of America and then thought of home so it's very surreal to be almost there.         ... to only book a few days, weeks or at best months ahead, we had an almighty surprise to discover that it was going to cost thousands to get to South America. So after stressing, freaking out and actually lying on the floor having a full blown tantrum we decided to spend the same amount of money on a cruise.         ... between them is expensive to fly and whilst you can go by cargo boat you just have to get there and wait for a ticket, with accommodation costing around £40 a night this was not really a feasible option. We decided that we would fly to Tahiti, then have a few nights over on Moorea island before returning to Tahiti to pick up our cruise.
