Abbey Road Barrow-in-Furness, Lake District, Cumbria, England, United Kingdom, LA13 9JS
... described as a very funny and eventful night... upon returning to my Pendlese home, I found my flatemate Jess standing at the flat door, bag-less, phone-less, key-less, one-shoe-missing with her eyes closed, just leaning- scarily- on the door.... at first I thought she was just waiting for someone to come up with her things, but it turned out that she had absolutely no recollection of the night, post 12am! 2 pound triples at Cuba do that to you! I had to phone ...
Lancaster, England, United Kingdom katie.pitt... a few bits I need to try on to see if they'll make the final cut to come on this adventure with me. But, apart from that I'm pretty much sorted. I'm thinking that I'm forgetting something but Im a tad anal so Im prob just worrying for worrying sake. Few bits to get from town then thats me! So, I'll update again when Im off and let you know how Im getting on.
Kendal, Cumbria, United Kingdom tizer... on a bench. She stood on first the window sill, then my outstretched hands and without a fuss, she was in. Of course, the fun didn't stop there. The door is mortice locked, so I had to climb in through the living room window.

Indeed, the next four people back also climbed in through the window, as they couldn't find the key either. We handed dripping items back and forth through the window for depositing in the drying room. Vince set the open fire ...
Little Langdale, England, United Kingdom rachelkw... away. Would my windscreen be measurably thinner by the time I got to Langdale? How much water could the engine take? There must have been buckets of water running down through it from the bonnet above and dirty spray water drenching it from the road below too. I was amazed my little car kept going.

Through this howling gale, Eartha (my six year old) and I were on our way to the Lake ...
Little Langdale, England, United Kingdom rachelkwWe are sitting with a huge pile of travel guides, maps, notebooks, post it notes and general accumulated info in front of us wondering where to start!

The itinery is almost sorted out in terms of countries and cities. We've got the MASTA health brief and the FCO no go areas. We think we've got Visa requirments in hand and the boring (but necessary ...
Lancaster, England, United Kingdom mad-marlin... flirty for coppers! A very funny experience. Actually the whole night could be summed up as one of the funnest nights i've ever had out.. Zoe was amazing to go out with, so so funny...and her two friends who came along were the bubbly, fun, carefree sort of people that make nights out with alcohol seem so much more colourful.
Having gone through about 5 or 6 pubs/bars/clubs, we finally made our way home after 2 (??? i think???) and i stumbled into ...
Lancaster, England, United Kingdom katie.pitt... items like combos, beef jerky, twizzlers, Hersey's chocolate, and the all holy double "stuf" oreos. Many interesting responses from my flat mates. They all loved that you can use a twizzler as a straw, the idea of beef jerky, and let's just say the double "stuf" oreos give you the power to have other people gladly do your homework (or at least help you). Thanks mom! On the other hand, bad reviews of Hersey's included "it taste like dirt" or "(points to pile of mud) Look at ...
Morecambe Bay and Lancaster, England, United Kingdom scharrak... albeit a spouse) and very happily printed out FOC (free of charge) tickets for us, on seeing our BR passes.

We boarded a small ferry called Tern and sat downstairs. It was just too chilly on deck. My car thermometer had been reading 6C on the way over. The ferry happily chugged its way across the lake, taking half an hour to get to Bowness-on-Windermere. We peered at the passing banks through ...
Ambleside, England, United Kingdom rachelkwThe weather could not have been more perfect if we had ordered it. It was warm and calm, almost windless. The sky was deep blue and there was hardly a cloud in it. We joined with some of the others to complete a horseshoe shaped walk, effectively following the skyline that could be seen from the cottage. There were eight of us altogether: Donny, me, John, Mary, Colin, Georgie, Roland and Graham.

The first leg of the journey took ...
Coniston, England, United Kingdom rachelkw... and behold, it had materialised under a rock. We let ourselves in and dragged our sleeping bags out of the car. It's a nice hut, as mountaineering huts go. There are hot showers and a lounge. The kitchen is a decent size and there are three bedrooms full of bunks to choose from, which allows a certain amount of privacy. We were nearly asleep by the time the rest of the party made their way back from the pub.
