"I wonder anybody does anything at Oxford but dream and remember, the place is so beautiful. One almost expects the people to sing instead of speaking. It is all like an opera."
Tuesday Eva had to go back to work, but the rest of us planned to spend the day in Oxford. We caught the bus from Abingdon and were in Oxford within 30 minutes. We walked around the town, following signs for the information center. There, we picked up a map, ...
... finally woke up for real at 5:45. I got dressed and re-packed my things from last night. Kate got up as well to help me. My cab wasn't due to arrive until 6:30, but the cab driver was an overachiever and he showed up at 6:10. So I had a quick bowl of cereal with Kate, gave more goodbye hugs, and then I was off to Heathrow.
It is still rainy and cloudy today, as if England is sad that I'm ...
... to sleep and stayed that way until noon. Good times. I can't remember the last time I slept until noon, but I needed it today.
Today was the Oxbridge Garden Party, the poshest event of the summer for the admin. I decided to put forth some effort and actually straighten and style my hair and get pretty, which took quite a while since my hair is not the most cooperative in the world. At 2:30 I met up with Natalie and Kate and we ...
... and drinking champagne to celebrate Emma. Larry and Will joined us when they got back, and it was so great to finally be able to blow off some steam and just have fun with everyone like we used to last year.
I pulled the evening shift tomorrow night, which means I get to sleep in again, which is awesome. But it is also 1:45AM right now, which means my sleep time is quickly ticking away. So I'll be off.
Good night ...
... like there is something I should be doing, or someone I should be calling. But I guess I should also take my sleep while I can get it. The faculty members arrive tomorrow, and things really start to pick up once they arrive. So maybe an early night tonight is a good thing. Of course the sun isn't even close to set yet, and I can't sleep if it isn't dark. I'll just start with brushing my teeth and see how things go from there.
Good night all! Love ...
