Big resort but in a good location with a number of eatery options nearby. 3.2km long pool winds its way through the complex.

If you only have time for a short stay - one to two weeks- this would be a pretty amazing option- never have seen a swimming pool quite like this- lots of Swedes here as I think much of the country must be in Thailand this year- the beach sweeps almost 15kms from end to end and was ground zero for the Tsunami of 2004

Beautiful resort, the friendliest staff that we have met in Thailand, so close to the beach and a mind blowing-ly big swimming pool that was literally a step away from our decking. Would definitely recommend!

Today is our final day here. After a very stressful start I missed out on 1/2 my holidays but it's all ok now.
khao Lak is nothing like Phuket, Pattaya, patong, Karon etc. Much more suitable for the family and older people I think.
We didn't even leave the resort except for long walks along the beach. Local fishermen throwing their circular …

It has rained nearly all day. Torrential rain at times.
What to do on rainy days???
No scuba diving because of the stormy weather they have experienced .
What better than a Thai cooking class. Hopefully the weather will improve.
Kay, Toni and I meandered off to the cooking class. First was an entree, Yam som o Goong Sod Pomelo …

          I am here at last.

After 4 nightmare days caught up in the red tape of the Lost Passport saga, I'm now in beautiful Khao Lak.
Hot, humid, a few torrential downpours of rain bring it on. I can handle almost anything now.
Our travel deal includes complimentary, massages, cooking lesson, breakfast, lunch and dinner in any of the four restaurants here.

... who told us that the group of teenagers there had come from a private International School in Bangkok to do some community work. They had helped with some building repairs for most of the day but were just about to start a concert which we could watch. It was a lot of fun. The older children from Bangkok performed some modern dance and sang a few songs. Then it was the turn of the children from the orphanage. June and Cindy very nervously performed a traditional ...

... orphanage and the current dearth of volunteers. Two new independents were arriving on Tuesday, Ken told me, and as far as he knew they weren’t Germans. Hurray!

Friday was upon us once again. We don’t set out until midday on a Friday and so I had a leisurely breakfast at Grand City Hotel where many of the tables were occupied by a recently arrived party of Germans, looking weary and uncomfortably warm in jeans, jumpers, socks, shoes and in some ...
