... br> Pao-yü remained standing in such a vacant mood that Tai-yü imagined that he had gone back; but when she came to open the door she caught sight of Pao-yü still waiting in there; and as Tai-yü did not feel justified to again close the door, Pao-yü consequently followed her in.
“Every thing has,” he observed, “a why and a wherefore; which, when spoken out, don’t even give people pain; but you ...

... walk, and probably great fun in the summer. We also had an obligatory stop at the pearl factory. At this point we had to tell Do that we probably weren't going to buy anything. He asked us if we could just pretend since the store pays the tour company to drop off tourists. So - once we had established an understanding we made it look good as we wandered around the store.

... since it was the item (printed in Chinese characters) right below "Budwiser". The waiter gave a little laugh when I pointed and ordered, and no wonder--What I got was 5 heart-shaped waffles with a dab of thick blueberry syrup! We laughed, I commented that I had again been humbled, and we ate them up--they were really good. We took the subway back to the bus stop, and caught the coach bus to the hotel. We had just gotten settled ...

Sleep is for the weak...

I won't bore you with the day to day, blow by blow of my time in the Broadcast Center over the next week...So we'll hit just the highlights (that is if you consider breathing toxic dust and being on your feet for 11 hours highlights...) Monday...in the IBC, and get started installing thousands of phone lines...and at night I hit a local restaurant for dinner. I hadn't had any real hearty red meat caveman-like meals since arriving ...

Anyway, I went downstairs and gave it to her and she seemed pretty perplexed. The manager had to come over... and then another... they all seemed very confused by... I'm not sure what. Then they apologized and that was all ...

We ended the evening with Peking duck. It was well worth the splurge. The duck was amazing ...

Day 20

... this temple's creators believed that this spot is where heaven meets earth. All rituals here are driven upwards by the acoustics allowing emporers to commune with God. Now, the same spot holds about 6 tourists at a time whispering prayers of their own. Again the National holiday means more people than usual - mostly out of town Chinese tourists. These people aren't used to seeing westerners, so I was attracting attention again. All was good though, sometimes ...
