      ... we were able to go to the other side of HK Island by bus, to avoid the demonstrations and the traffic jams caused by them. So, we have not been affected by the demonstrations at all, except for today I guess. We had to come to HK train station today to catch the airport express train, but it took almost 2 hours to make a 20 minute journey because of the traffic restrictions. I'm glad we are now at the airport waiting to fly out to Cebu. Let's see what awaits us ...

      ... just got back from the Macau version of Cirque du Soleil--The House of Dancing Water. It was Chinese acrobats meets high diving, meets evil knievil (motorcycles flying through the air) meets Swimming Vegas Show girls. It had something for everyone.       ... visa) was not what I thought it was - I had thought you were allowed 3 months in China from your date of entry. Nope, apparently you are only allowed 30 days from your first entry and the 3 month period is the time in which you must use this visa to enter the country. I had overstayed my visa, not just overstayed the time in which to get me a resident's permit. GULP. Apparently the only way I was leaving China was if I paid a 5000 RMB (500) fine on the spot ...
