My self-chosen life style

... on my head while I push my overloaded iron lady through near-empty streets, my sweaty and rained upon head trying to make an owl`s turning, trying hard to take it all in. The omnimous darkness of the thunderstorm as yet awaiting me ignoring, I look for a small bar for lunch...back to tasteless Polish froth that the locals gobble down like it is a bowl of Red Wine with the fermented grapes still floating atop but I myself find ...

... sunbathing. If there is no sun, you can wander around the city's pedestrian precinct called ul. Królowej Jadwigi, where you'll find countless art galleries, restaurants and bars. It's worth mentioning at this stage that Toruń is one of the cheapest bigger cities of Poland, and there are pubs right in the Old Town, in which a pint of beer will cost you less than 1€.

A must-have thing in Toruń is 'pierniczki toruńskie'. Pierniczki is a type of ...

... up at 5:30 (the weather report says 3:30) and it was light and it doesn’t set until around 10:30. This promotes a significant lack of sleep.

Getting enough electricity to power my stuff while at a hostel has been a little challenging. No plugs in the rooms. I don’t feel safe leaving it in the common room unless I am there. I have a single converter for my plugs but brought an extension cord. I can power my PC, camera and IPOD off of a single outlet.

Touring in Torun

... I was stunned at how pretty the city centre was as we cross a long bridge over the Vistula River (longest river in Poland I believe as it flows from the Tatra Mountains down in the south near the Slovakian border through Krakow and Warsaw then through Torun all the way to Gdansk and the Baltic Sea). I hadn't heard of Torun before I moved to Edinburgh. Then I heard a lot about it as my flatmate in Edinburgh was from Torun. Basically him telling ...

... I didn't find any youth hostel in the centre (I've learn afterwards, that there was one...but not in my guide, but foundable in internet), so I staid in one of the hostel...5 times more expensive than the regular youth hostel...ups. But it worthed it, because I had time to see the center the evening and the morning before continuing my trip.

Lipno

Back in the car we go and it's off to Lipno we go. We get there and get to the cemntary. Lines of cars and people everywhere. We survey the 2 sites and buy flowers and candles. We get to the the first stop and pay our respects. We than go to our 2nd stop and notice that someone has placed all these flowers on the grave (they were not there before). I'm pretty sure Dad and I were thinking the same thing. Who are these jack ass's placing all ...

Hmm.. back to Tourist information I go to where via Dad I am a proud owner of a Filutek T-shirt. Thanks Daddy Waddy! We than go look inside a few church's and than get going.

... We get our bearings and find the cementary site. The candles and holder that we left 6 months ago are still there. Impressive. Dad and I do some maintenace on the place. The live flowers are looking too dormant if you know what I mean so we cut them back. There is quite the amount of activity to be had even thou it's not all Saints day yet. By the time we leave, the cementary is a bustle of avtivity and people are fighting for the parking space we are leaving behind. Next stop Torun.

... back to the room and turned on the main light to the room while he proceeded to ruffle through his stuff. That did not make me happy. And another guy seemed really creepy. He was in the hostel the entire time that I was there. If he ever left, I wouldn't have known it. Plus, when I was packing my stuff up in the morning, he stared me down the entire time. I was really happy to get out of there.

We are in Poland! - It's Niiiice! We liiiiiiiike!

... OK but a bit old (32) was all over me and saying she wanted to kiss me and kept complimenting me. BUT she reckons she was happily married with 2 kids. What the ****?! Had a kiss but couldn't really call it a point, however, glad I didn't take it further as she may have eaten me! How Tim and I stooped so low I have no idea (well, vodka and being away from any women probably answers that!). A Taxi home at 5am and it took us ages to find the place! What an awesome night though! :o)
