The narrowness of the lane combined with the lack of parking space in the village and the popularity of the destination have long made it necessary to force visitors to park at the top and walk down.       Gales and rain overnight meant for not so much sleep. Then up early to get ready before Jo and Irf picked us up and took us to the airport. So nice going from Exeter but it is certainly the poor relation to Bristol - so small.       ... Restormel only saw action once during the Civil war during Charles I rein. After this is basically fell into ruins. However, it is still a nice castle to see today. The surrounding countryside is very nice and you could picture walking through the forests during the castle's heyday and hunting for deer.       ... outline on hill in Westbury, Wiltshire) - on our last day in England we drove over and saw a white horse that was carved into the side of a hill. They cut the grass and the rock underneath is chalk so it showed a white horse. The hill was very steep and Alexander slid down the horse but we were lucky he didn't go all the way down the hill!
