Harrods, Hyde Park and Hilarity

Chris and Kate:

Originally we were going to go to Bath this last day in England but we decided to stay in London and stroll and explore a bit more. First stop: the church/coffeehouse which was finally open and people were enjoying their lattes & having business meetings in the pews. (see image) We hopped the Tube to Harrods where we were going to have lunch but when we discovered a sandwich was $30, we decided to pick up some Lola's ...

Au revoir

... swiftly and if my blog entries become sparsely added over this period you can be sure it is something to do with my excesses. Cheap booze, beautiful surroundings and a group of four lads can, in reality, only add up to a five week hangover.

From here I fly to Cairns and proceed to travel along the east coast of Australia. Here we will take in the great barrier reef and all the things which Josh wrote about in that section of his blog. I wont be taking in ...

It worked when the person behind the desk did, which proves my point.

I tried not to take this as a bad sign, untill i went to buy me a coffee on the gate only to realise i'd lost my boarding pass! begin slight panic mode and retrace steps... no luck. Managed to find a customer services desk and had another one printed ...

Day in Oxford

... at Belushi's bar in the hostel, quiche, wasn't as good as mine but it was cheap. Repacked the bag that's making me want to die it's so heavy. It didn't help. Watching South Africa and Brazil play.

Tomorrow it's Bath and then to Edinburgh. A lot of hours on the train. Excited about Scotland though!

Today was Jason and I's three year anniversary. I forgot, he didn't. And he got me a present. He's great. Update tomorrow!
London with DH

... Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, walked inside of St. Pauls cathedral, saw the changing of the guards, and went inside of the Westminister Abbey. After this i grabbed a quick lunch and took the tube to the airport, where i had to check my small backpack because i was carrying my gift from DH, a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label. All in all, i was happy i got to see a lot more of London, experienced a rugby match, and i found it to be very cheap as the £ to € was almost 1:1.

London

I disagree with people who say that the tube is an efficient transport system. It takes at least an hour to get anywhere, it is always packed and uncomfortable. To get to the places I wanted to go, I always seemed to have to change lines at least twice. Paris Metro is far better - you can get anywhere in the city without having to change more than once. It took me two hours to get from Gatwick airport to my hostel in Russell Square, with 3 huge bags. So glad to have that ...

Harrods & Hyde Park

... all I needed for the day was a pair of black mittens, a green scarf and a favoured beige bag because it was such a lovely, sunny morning! So when I got back from posting my occasional, old-fashioned up-date to my parents those were the exact things I left with, it had been ages since I'd worn the Berlin-bag and I loved it still. Finally arriving at the point of destination I pushed for door number six. It really outdid every ...

Leaving on a jet plane

... Friday! Perfect timing huh? So far it has been a great couple of days. Just getting used to the adjustment and settled in. I can't wait to go out and explore some more and see all the rest of the great stuff. I'm going to see The Lion King on Thursday and can not wait! Who knows what other craziness I will see this week! I bought a cell phone today too so I don't feel so disconnected from the world anymore :-) I'll write again soon! Thanks for all the well-wishes I got from everyone!!!

DAY 2/3

Hello all! Yesterday first: Erin and I went exploring around and took a double decker bus tour for most of the day. Then we ate at the Hard-Rock Cafe (the first one EVER). We basically wandered till supper time, exploring the land and seeing the sights. Then last night, we decided to go for a walk after supper, and somehow... ended up on Oxford Circus. (which if you don't know... is about 3 Tube stations away ...
