... reason becoming clear on arrival as we had to queue to check in our baggage just like an airplane. We passed the rest of the time sitting with a coffee before making our way over to the train. It was luxury compared to what we'd been used to and I could have almost fit another person in my seat. It also had a cafe carriage with tables and plug sockets and free water. The 11 hours passed fairly quickly and before we knew it we had arrived at Southern Cross station in Melbourne ...

It started as a way for us to record our adventures, and let our family know what we are up to without having to send individual emails or make a million phone calls. How much does 18 months in Australia cost

A travel blog entry by piholland on Aug 31, 2014

... I would guess we traveled around 10,000 kms and fuel/oil cost maybe less than $3000 in total. (bearing in mind our truck was a big heavy vehicle).

I'm pretty please our daily spend was around $24, I don't think many trips could average that price around Australia. Our number one tip would be to travel slow, Australia is just to big to drive round in one go and you see a whole lot more just taking to time and concentrating on areas that interest you rather than running ...
