... paid a quick visit to the South Australian Whale Centre and found out that there was a mother and calf southern right whale in the bay just along the coast at Basham Bay. I bought a whale t shirt for Violet. We had lunch at the pub on the corner, The Victor, a nice old pub with a dining room that looked out onto the bay. We all had seafood chowder. ... AND the council for parking the wrong way on a street. $184 dollars lighter when I finally pay the notice from the police because it seems they are too lazy to add them to the system. I was not happy at all and feel that this information should be given out by either the Aus government or the hire car company when you pick one up. ... and fouled items behind - 3 tubs of yoghurt, an umbrella and a few used food wrappers. But responsibility to nature got the better of us and so we wrapped everything up in baby wipes and stuffed the package into the backpack ready to make our way down out of the elements and back into more reasonable weather.

... we felt like our holiday had finally begun. We caught a bus to our hotel after somehow managing to get the bus driver to understand where we wanted to get off. We had no idea how to get to the hotel from the bus stop so we hailed a cab. It wasn't far but we definitely would've gotten lost so it was a good decision.
