    Today the morning was cloudy and rainy. I waited the weather out, and packed up to travel to the Ferry to Mackinac Island. The ferry ride over was chilly, but the rooster tail from the jet boat was pretty impressive. After a 15 minute trip, and a great view of the Mackinaw bridge, we arrived at the docks on the island.     ... around, but it is such a pleasant ride it seems much shorter. There are at least 5 bike rental companies and each has a license for over 300 bikes to be out. The downtown is quaint, touristy, and has beautiful old buildings. If you want to buy a t-shirt, rent a bike, eat or drink in a pub, or buy home-made fudge you will find it here.     ... for us it was National Fudge day and the island's oldest fudge maker Murdick's Fudge was giving away free fudge so of course we got some free and bought more - just like they wanted! Fudge had its beginnings on the island in the 1887's. There were quite a lot of fudge shops to choose from.

    The Chuck Wagon was a great place for lunch with their claim to have the best hamburgers on the island - which must have been true ...
