One empty little Italy

... a 50p tip, walked us all the way there and sat outside while we ate, hoping to walk us home again, but we said no thankyou we would get a tuk tuk. He asked for our address and telephone numbers, but I am ashamed to say I think I made a mistake with the odd digit in both!
Before the meal we saw a local football match and strolled along the white sand beach dodging scorpions.

Painting and other things

... wanted to do was brighten up the place, and even before we arrived Jules stated she wanted to paint a rainbow somewhere. we went one or two steps further and painted the whole perimeter wall in sky blue and added rainbows, suns, stars, balloons, and a collection of hand prints from the kids. I like to think we made the most of both our time and (your) money, hope you a

Cheers *megs later comments so there's nothing in malindi....just murky ocean, italians and their black prostitutes. things are expensive because tourism is geared to italians. there is literally nothing to do ...

Then the saddest story this week was today when I commented on a girl that had been absent yesterday and not her usual cheery self today, i was informed that it was just because her HIV was getting worse. It really brings you back down to earth. So to hell with carrying one and fractions, tomorrow we're booking the place across the road that shows dvds and football matches and we're getting popcorn and coke!

A Likkle D.J. Stylee

I left Kilifi in a matatu with a working tape player. I had heard about a big reggae show that was moving up the coast from Mombasa. I figured I could catch it in Malindi, on my way to Lamu. I arrived around mid-day and settled into town with some ugali and greens and a third-story corner hotel room. The breeze blows stronger up high. Later I went to the show, which turned out to be a d.j. showcase ...

All were well mulched, sometimes with bags from the cement plant. The office was made of the back of an old cement truck. They had some great vermiculture designs using buckets or trays. Another awesome design was the methane producing manure digester. It was so simple. Cow manure goes in one end. Methane in ...

... were involved in two car accidents while here. For God's sake - we only took about 10 car journeys in total. The fact that we only take cars to avoid the the muggers and thieves who own Nairobi at night, makes you wonder what you have to do to get a break around here. (To any worried readers, both were very minor). Yes, Kenya is a funny place but for all the negatives, there are substantially more positives. Sausages, pies and beers are always ...
