... upon departing well into the next morning, boats of party people were still arriving.

As the longtail boat driver navigated us back to Haad Rin, my thoughts centered around the fact that my birthday mission had been accomplished, it could not have been a better way to greet my (gulp) forties, having met such interesting people from all around the world, mostly getting to know a group of Germans that had come to the Island just to visit this underground event, for the ...

We started walking down the beach to see the different areas we were both approached by at least 3 thai men on different occassions all wearing adidas tracksuits asking us if "we want pill", "happy pill", "Pill??" ... we had set foot on the island, whilst Vajiralongkorn and I were waiting for the ferry at Surat Thani, we saw several rabid dogs, some of which sadly looked like they were in a lot of distress.
Unlike in Bangkok, whenever you go into shops on the island it is customary that you remove your shoes, presumably to prevent sand from the beach being walked in. I found this a good idea as being barefoot is always more comfortable and I was always wearing flip flops anyway.

... breath and sweating profusely when we hit the top. It was well worth it!! The scenery was amazing. We could see the little islands for miles. Our boat looked so small. We could see a group of kayakers peppering the water between islands, while a couple speed boats cut white frothy lines in the blue water. Going down was a bit trickier bu we still managed to do it in record time. Once at the bottom it took me less than thirty seconds to get in the ...
