A tent with 4 walls (aka a wooden cabin - yay)

... ha, ha, ha. We can't decide if it helps with the homesickness or makes it worse, but we are enjoying their deliciousness.

It's been an educational and fun time here in Chattanooga and we have enjoyed the natural beauty of the area. The fall colours came to their peak colour for the season and then all the leaves fell, it was incredible, like nothing we have ever seen before.

Love and Peace, the train visiting a train, Bek and Jesse.
Chattanooga, the Hub.

We have arrived in Chattanooga and found ourselves a bargain basement priced little wooden cabin to keep us out of the rain and in the warmth, yay! This is just a short entry. This week we will be staying here in Chattanooga checking out the surrounds and making a few day trips to neighbouring states.

We will keep you updated. Lots of Love, the warm, Bek and Jesse Train
Visiting the Battlefield - Chickamauga NP

... I was here about 12-13 years ago. It starts with a federal and a confederate meeting up after the war and remembering that they were at Chickamauga last time they met. They are then the narrators throughout the movie documenting the battle. It was an interesting little take and did keep me engaged. I was interested to learn that this was the first battlefield park that was established. I figured it would have been Gettysburg ...

... onto another gravel road to a waterfall. We parked the bikes and hiked 1.8 miles to the waterfall. Again, spectacular views. Uphill hiking in and we encountered a few downed trees. Easy coming out.

The hike took some time so when we got back on 136 North and headed on to Chickamauga we didn't stay too long. We will definitely will go back.

Seven states

Jamie, Zach, and I can now say that we have done what all the barns and bird houses across the southeast has been requesting people to do: See Rock City. Rock City is a Labrinth of rock formations on the highest peak in Tennessee. From one spot we could Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Zach enjoyed looking at the rocks that loomed overhead and the massive waterfall.

... lack of tourist-friendly shops like in the Gettysburg area. We were never able to find a bullet for Bradley. The lack of hotels in the area was also a surprise.

I would definitely like to "study up" more on the battle and then visit the park again sometime in the future.

... state to state. I vow to stay away for years, till Knoxville's road construction's done. Another fog bank, the Holston River once again? How could that be? The trees are golden here, and trucks are taking all the road. . A Chattanooga sign! More road work here, swerve us over, switch us all around, swerve us over, double freeway, double traffic, and it's supposed to be a peaceful Sunday morn! At last, one freeway, I-75 (goes from Miami to Sault Ste Marie, in ...

Yo, Kids!

... are scheduled for fall, but owner Marsha Boudrie says "We keep a signup sheet handy so people can suggest other classes they'd like to see too." Kids Club meets regularly for activities such as shirt painting or rocket making, and the Kid's Model Car Club meets the last Friday of each month. Come tonight at 6 for remote control car racing in the Northgate parking lot. And tomorrow, it's yo-time. See you there. Hobbytown, Chattanooga

Goony Family Fun

... Strap'em in mama, and watch'em go! Once you reach the ripe old age of 10 (if you are at least 4'10" tall), you're old enough to go full-throttle on the big-time track. The double cars accommodate an adult too, should a parent choose to share the ride. No brickyard here, but 1,200 feet of curves for a five-minute speedway feel. Safety rules are stressed before you exit the pit and reckless drivers ...

Pre-travel Briefing

The Apple Capital of the state, the Carpet Capital of the world, the largest open-pit marble quarry anywhere, site of the country's first gold rush -- is that reason enough to visit the north-central part of Georgia? Add to that the beginning of the Appalachian Trail, one of the most-loved hiking trails in the country; state parks with waterfalls cascading almost into your lap, or ancient, mysterious stone ruins; and wilderness areas so remote there is no access except on ...
