A tent with 4 walls (aka a wooden cabin - yay)

... ha, ha, ha. We can't decide if it helps with the homesickness or makes it worse, but we are enjoying their deliciousness.

It's been an educational and fun time here in Chattanooga and we have enjoyed the natural beauty of the area. The fall colours came to their peak colour for the season and then all the leaves fell, it was incredible, like nothing we have ever seen before.

Love and Peace, the train visiting a train, Bek and Jesse.
Chattanooga, the Hub.

We have arrived in Chattanooga and found ourselves a bargain basement priced little wooden cabin to keep us out of the rain and in the warmth, yay! This is just a short entry. This week we will be staying here in Chattanooga checking out the surrounds and making a few day trips to neighbouring states.

We will keep you updated. Lots of Love, the warm, Bek and Jesse Train
Visiting the Battlefield - Chickamauga NP

... I did see that they had a 1903 Springfield. I’ll have to remember to tell Shaun.

We decide it is a good time to hit the auto tour before the bus load of children head there. We head out and follow the battle. I like trying to guess which monuments are for which state. Each state provided the monuments for their units. Most of the really big ones are for confederate states. There is a HUGE Georgia spiral we see ...

Chickamauga, TN

From Marietta we took Hwy 41 North. Met for Breakfast @ the WH in Cartersville. Took Hwy 136 to Hwy 151 to Hwy 95 to Hwy 27 North. 27 North runs into the Battlefield.

On Hwy 136 we took a detour to Johns Mountain. It is a left turn from 136 North and is well marked. We drove to an overlook via a gravel road that was probably 2 1/2 miles. Not a ...

Jamie, Zach, and I can now say that we have done what all the barns and bird houses across the southeast has been requesting people to do: See Rock City. Rock City is a Labrinth of rock formations on the highest peak in Tennessee. From one spot we could Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Zach enjoyed looking at the rocks that loomed overhead and the massive waterfall.

Chattanooga's old YMCA

... other great story altogether!) Jack was kind enough to give me a tour of the 1920s-era YMCA and leave me alone to "work my magic" for the whole day. The images that you see here are some examples of just 4 hours of shooting (and I only covered about 1/8th of the building!) These images are also the first series that I'm considering doing primarily in color. Yes, I said it... IN COLOR! Most of my work is black and white ...

I Miss My JK

... agent's lot next door, and the tension in the air could have been cut with a spoon. I, all 220 lbs of my ring-bearing self, was quite nervous. But my friend was shaking like a leaf. Anyway, to cut to the chase, the ceremony went mostly fine. We had rehearsed twice the night before, and everything went off without a hitch. At least until one little thing got in the way, and that thing was me. It all happened with my counterpart across the aisle, who was a rather large ...

A Not-so-Good Friday

... my hair grow long. OK, now I have a black picture hat. My somber mood would only let me go so far. A hat. A picture hat, even. But it had to be BLACK, to match my attitude. Pink is not a good color for brooding. "I shall wear this hat in the Easter Parade," I decided. "I'm going to New York City." New York City! That's a two-day's drive for me. And there is so much work to do! And the cat? What about the cat? Not to mention, you really CAN'T afford it. I plowed ahead ...

Bricks for Kicks

... Can it be artistic? Sure it can, and we've got masonry art scattered all over town. Masonry Works in Public is brick sidewalk art for sitting, leaning or slouching. The Association for Visual Artists selects a new design each year and the Chattanooga Masonry Association awards the artist and builds the unique new piece. Want to sit on "The Couch" at the corner of 2nd and Broad near the Aquarium? Don't count on comfort, but Katherine Neuhardt ...

Do I Even Have a Fishing Pole

... Hole in Center Hill Lake is considered one of the finest fishing places in the state; it's adjacent to the shore in Rock Island State Rustic Park. Center Hill Lake is blessed with two state parks, nine recreation areas, and eight commercial marinas that offer boat rentals and fishing supplies. Edgar Evins State Park has cabins and campsites. Come in the fall for the 50-mile cruise up the lake. Ah yes, the fishing is good, and the living is easy.
