We made a good effort to get up a bit earlier than usual this morning as the nearby town of Gaillac has a market in each Friday. Early for us mind you was 8:30am... The market was good for a small town. Consisting of fruit, veg, meats (fresh and cured), cakes/breads as well as a variety of ornaments, clothing and even mattresses and doonas! We bought a beautiful salad bowl and cheese board made from 200yr old olive wood. The grain and colour is incredible. The kids ...

So yes, the eldest Cavanough is turning 11 today and because we are so far from his friends and other family members we tried to make his day as special as we can. This started with presents, chocolate for breakfast and then pinball machine games. We were thrilled to have a package delivered to our 'maison' which was sent from Australia. After packing our bags and departing from the Hotel in Toulouse, we picked up our hire car and navigated our way out of the city. Once on the motorway it was a breeze.
